Dimapur: Amid the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in the country, the All Nagaland College Students’ Union on Monday through a press release appealed all the students in the state to educate the illiterate and sensitise the people about the pandemic to avoid panic.
The ANCSU in another letter to the chief secretary of Nagaland requested the him to take a look into the lodging and travel problems of the students in the state and also the ones coming from outside the state. The ANCSU in the letter wrote, “To contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in our state, the state government has taken applaudable steps but it is unfortunate to inform your authority that some hostels and house owners are asking the students to vacate their stay for the safety sake.”
The letter further reads, “The ANCSU said that the students should not be forced to vacate their stay as the scheduled university exam is yet to be deferred.”
The ANCSU also highlighted that it was difficult for the students to move out to their respected homes as their homes are from far-flung areas and moreover the government has notified that there will be no commercial vehicles movements in the state till further notice by the government.
Taking the situation of the students in the state under consideration, the ANCSU in another letter to the director of higher education Nagaland, appealed the director to let the lecturers provide their students with study materials through social networking sites at the earliest.
