Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has invited online applications from Indian citizens for recruitment on a direct basis for several teaching and non-teaching posts. NVS is an autonomous organisation under the Union ministry of human resource development, department of school education and literacy.

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV), run by NVS, are co-educational, fully residential schools up to senior secondary level and are located mainly in rural areas. Being fully-residential institutions, JNV teachers are required to stay on campus for which rent-free accommodation as available is provided. In addition to normal teaching duties, the teachers are required to perform responsibilities attached with residential system of schooling like House Mastership, remedial and supervisory studies, organisation of co-curricular activities, escorting of students on migration and other official purposes and looking after students' welfare in general.

* Assistant commissioner

Pay scale: Rs 78,800-2,09,200

Age limit: Not exceeding 45 years

Education and work experience:

(i) Master’s degree in humanities/science/commerce from a recognised institution/university

(ii) Persons holding analogous post or post of principal in the level 12 of pay matrix

(iii) With at least 5 years of experience in the level 10 pay matrix and above in educational planning and administration in any government/semi government/ autonomous organisation.

Desirable qualifications:

(i) Experience in working in a residential school system

(ii) Research work done in the field of education

* Post graduate teachers (PGTs)

Pay scale: Rs 47,600-1,51,100

Age limit: Not exceeding 40 years

Qualification and work experience:

(i) Two-year integrated postgraduate course from regional college of education of NCERT in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks in aggregate

(ii) Or Master’s degree from a recognised university with at least 50% marks in aggregate in the required subjects.

(iii) B Ed degree

(iv) Proficiency in teaching in Hindi and English medium

(v) Competence to teach through English and Hindi/ concerned regional language as the case may be.

Desirable qualifications:

(i) Experience of working in a residential school

(ii) Knowledge of computer application

* Trained graduate teachers (TGTs)

Pay scale: Rs 44,900-1,42,400

Age limit: Not exceeding 35 years

Qualification and work experience:

(i) Four-year integrated degree course of regional college of education of NCERT with at least 50% marks in the concerned subject as well as in the aggregate.

(ii) Or Bachelors’ degree with at least 50% marks in concerned subject/ combination of subjects and also in aggregate. Candidate should have studied requisite subject(s) for at least 2 years in the 3-year degree course

(iii) Or Bachelors’ degree from a recognised university with at least 50% marks in the concerned subject/ combination of subjects and also in aggregate. The candidate should have studied the requisite subjects in all three years of degree course.

(iv) Passed the central teacher eligibility test (CTET) conducted by CBSE in accordance with the guidelines framed by the NCTE for the purpose.

(v) B Ed degree

(vi) Competence to teach through English and Hindi/ concerned regional language as the case may be.

Desirable qualifications:

(i) Experience of working in a residential school

(ii) Knowledge of computer application

* Miscellaneous category of teachers

Pay scale: Rs 44,900-1,42,400

Age limit: Not exceeding 35 years

Qualifications and work experience:

(i) Degree/ diploma in relevant vocational subject and experience of working in the same field.

* Female staff nurse

Pay scale: Rs 44,900-1,42,400

Age limit: not exceeding 35 years

Qualifications and work experience:

(i) Passed Sr Secondary examination (Class XII) or equivalent and

(ii) Grade ‘A’ diploma/certificate in nursing from recognised institution

(iii) Or B Sc from a recognised university/institution

(iv) Registration with Indian/state nursing council

(v) Practical experience of two years in hospital/clinic

Desirable qualifications:

(i) Experience of working in a residential school

(ii) Knowledge of computer application

* Legal assistant

Pay scale: Rs 35,400-1,12,400

Age limit: 18-31 years

Essential qualification: Degree in law from a recognised university

Desirable qualification: Three years’ experience of handling legal cases.

* Catering assistant

Pay scale: Rs 25,500-81,100

Age limit: Up to 35 years

Qualifications and work experience:

(i) Secondary school (Class X pass) and

(ii) Three years’ diploma in catering or equivalent from an institution recognised by ministry of tourism, government of India/state government

(iii) Or passed Sr Secondary (Class XII) from CBSE with hotel management and catering as vocational subject and at least one year experience in catering

(iv) Or passed Sr Secondary (Class XII) or equivalent and one year diploma in catering or equivalent from a recognised institution with three years’ experience in catering in reputed institution/ hotels

(v) Or trade proficiency certificate in catering with a minimum of 10 years of service in defence services of regular establishment (for ex-servicemen only)

Desirable qualifications:

(i) Experience of working in a residential school

(ii) Knowledge of computer application

* Lower division clerk

Pay scale: Rs 19,900-63,200

Age limit: 18-27 years

Essential qualification:

(i) Senior secondary (class XII) certificate from a recognised board with 50% marks and possessing minimum speed of 30 words per minutes in English typing or 25 words per minute in Hindi typing correspond to 10500 KDPH as on average of 5 key depressions for each word.

(ii) Or passed +2 level or senior secondary certificate from CBSE/state government with secretarial practices and office management as vocational subjects.

Desirable qualifications:

(i) Knowledge of computer operation and data entry acquired either as a subject at +2 level or through 6 months’ diploma in computer from a recognised institution or through computer literacy certificate at school level

(ii) Experience in accounts/administrative matters in government/semi government/autonomous organisation

Mode of selection:

Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance in written examination / Computer Based Test (CBT) and interview / Personal Interaction put together. The NVS reserves the right to decide the cut off marks in written examination / CBT and interview / Personal Interaction separately. The decision of the NVS about the mode of selection to the notified posts and eligibility conditions of the applicants for interview / Personal Interaction shall be final and binding. No correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

However, in the case of Legal Assistant, Female Staff Nurse & Catering Assistant the selection to the post will be done on the basis of the performance of the candidates in the written examination / CBT only. For the post of Lower Division Clerk, candidates shortlisted on the basis of Written Examination / CBT will be called for Trade / Skill Test which will be of qualifying in nature only and carries no weightage. In case a candidate fails to qualify the trade / skill test, their candidature would be rejected. However, the mode of selection, whichever so, for all the notified posts will be the sole discretion of NVS and may be changed.
