Guwahati: In a tragic incident, a middle-aged businessman was killed in an incident of firing in Guwahati’s Chatribari locality on Monday night. The man succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital where he was rushed after the incident.

The deceased has been identified as Avdesh Yadav (40), a businessman, who was on his way home when he was attacked by two unidentified men on a motorbike who fled the spot immediately after shooting at Yadav.

“A businessman named Avdesh Yadav died in Chatribari yesterday in a firing at 8:26 pm. We are not aware of why he was shot but we have registered a case and the investigation is still on,” a police official from Guwahati’s Paltan Bazaar police station told EastMojo.

Local media reports say that a substantial amount of cash was snatched from Yadav after the firing but the same has not been confirmed by the police.
