Guwahati: The BJP legislator from Duliajan constituency has alleged that he was verbally abused by co-passengers on a moving train on Tuesday night.
Terash Gowalla, an MLA from Duliajan constituency in upper Assam, alleged that a passenger heckled him while he was travelling in Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express with his wife.
Gowalla said that soon after the train departed from Guwahati station, one of the co-passengers in the first class AC compartment where he was travelling started creating troubles with switching of lights in the compartment and abused him verbally.
Following Gowalla’s complaint, he was shifted to the next compartment by the TTE. The Government Railway Police (GRP) later nabbed the passenger at Lumding station. The passenger has been identified as Ramakanta Roy, a resident of Lumding in Hojai district.
When contacted, North Eastern Frontier Railway spokesperson said they don’t have any information about the incident and are looking into the matter.
