Winners of the OIL Plogging Challenge 2021 in Guwahati announced

The Plogging Challenge in Guwahati initiated by Oil India Limited as part of the Swacchata Pakhwada under Swachh Bharat Mission came to an end on 15th July and the winners were declared on 19th July. The winners or more appropriately the Plogging Champions are:

• Ms Rishiparna Choudhury became the Senior Plogging Champion among Cyclists with a total of 87 points. She was active for 10 days out of the total 12 days.
• Mr Kumud Chandra Goswami became the Senior Plogging Champion among the people who chose Walking. He earned a total of 110 points and was active for all 12 days.
• Mr Rajiv Das became the Senior Plogging Champion among the Runners. He earned a total of 87 points and was active for 10 days out of 12.
• In the Junior age group (between 12 to 18 years of age) Mr Pancham Hazarika became the overall Plogging Champion. He had cycled for all his plogging activities and was able to earn 104 points. He took part in the challenge for all 12 days.

The champions will receive prizes along with T-shirts and E-Certificates. Apart from the winners, a few more participants who were regular in their plogging activities and had also updated their Daily Activity details will receive T-Shirts and E-certificates. All the other participants will receive E-Certificates.

The organisers had prepared a point-based system to assess all the participants. Altogether 131 people had registered for the plogging challenge out of which 80 were active. 82 participants had chosen cycling while 29 chose Running and 20 chose Walking as their preferred activity for the Plogging challenge. Out of the total 131 participants, 113 were above 18 years of age while 18 were between the ages of 12 to 18 years.

Mr Madhurjya Barua of Oil India Limited Congratulated all the winners and expressed his hope that many of the participants will carry on the good work of keeping their surroundings by taking up such plogging activities.

Ms Krishna Hazarika Rao, DGM (PR), Oil India Limited said, “This was the first such Plogging activity organised by OIL where people were encouraged to take up plogging as a challenge. Such activities by the concerned citizens are actually the need of the hour to keep and make our city clean and at the same time stay healthy.”

This event was managed by a Guwahati based social enterprise called Pedal for a Change.
