Guwahati: More than five hundred youth living around Guwahati city grooved to Gospel music at the Music Night held at Don Bosco School Hall, Pan Bazaar, Guwahati on May 13, 2022.

The Gospel Music Night with the theme ‘Jesus the Messiah’, organized by North Eastern Regional Youth Commission (NERYC) in collaboration with Don Bosco Institute, Kharghuli, Cathedral Church, Rukminigaon, Co-Cathedral, Pan Bazaar, and Saint Francis Sales Shrine, Narengi, saw some quality performances from the students of Don Bosco Institute of Management and Holy Child School, Guwahati.

Speaking at the inaugural function of the music night, John Moolachira, the Archbishop of Guwahati, said, “Youth and music are synonymous to the northeast region. The rich diverse culture and talent for music among the youth of the region must be tapped and promoted and an evening dedicated to Gospel music is a good start in that direction”. Thanking the organizers for the novel idea, he appreciated the young people for their talents and great efforts to praise God and proclaim the message of Jesus through music.

The music night was live-streamed on the NERYC YouTube channel for the virtual participation of the region’s youth

Speaking at the event, Father John Barman MSFS, Director of NERYC, highlighted the importance of worshipping God and proclaiming the Gospel through music and dance. “Bible teaches us to worship God with dancing and music with timbral and harp. This Gospel Music Night for the youth is our humble effort”, he said.

He also thanked all the collaborators, particularly Father PD Johnny, the Director of Don Bosco Institute and Father Sebastian, principal of Don Bosco School, Pan Bazaar, for all their support, and cooperation and for providing the youth with a platform to showcase their musical talents.

Archbishop Moolachira felicitated the young people who performed an elevating concert with traditional Assamese stoles after the event.
