Assam gears up to vaccinate children aged 12-14 years
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the drive to vaccinate children aged 12-14 years in Guwahati on Wednesday

Guwahati: Assam health and family welfare department on Tuesday directed deputy commissioners of all districts to make arrangements for the vaccination of children in the age group of 12-14 years against Covid-19 with ‘CorBEvax‘ vaccine from March 16.

The order was issued following a directive from the Union ministry of health and family welfare.

As the 12-14 years age group children constitute school-goers, strategies must be formulated to ensure vaccination of all eligible beneficiaries irrespective of whether they are enrolled in government institutes, private schools or other non-formal schools like madrasas, Principal Secretary to the health and family welfare department Anurag Goyal said in the order.

The vaccine will be administered to only those children who have attained the age of 12 years on the date of inoculation.

All vaccinations of this age group of children will be carried out only in government COVID Vaccination Centres (CVCs) as private CVCs are not allowed by the union government to administer vaccination in this age group.

Management and reporting of Adverse Event Following Immunisation (AEFls) will be as per existing guidelines, the order said.

Altogether 4,36,55,380 people have been vaccinated in the state so far with 2,76,044 receiving the precautionary dose.
