Guwahati: The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Assam, has reactivated the ‘Divyaang Sarathi Nirvachan’ App for the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) electors for the ensuing Majuli by-election to make elections accessible and all inclusive.

Chief Electoral Officer, Assam, Nitin Khade has, in a bid to create a greater electoral ecosystem, has made efforts towards providing user friendly applications to the electors so that they can exercise their right to vote with ease.

As many as 400 PwD (persons with disabilities) electors will be exercising their franchise in Majuli (ST) constituency come March 7, 2022.

“The focus is to ensure wider participation of the PwD electors. Therefore, the Divyaang Sarathi Nirvachan’, which was also used largely by this special category voters during the bye-elections held in 2021 is now declared open for registration for the PwD electors of 99-Majuli (ST) legislative Assembly constituency,” an official statement said.

The elector may download and install the App from the Google Play Store.

“Once installed, the elector can apply for transportation facilities by filling up the relevant details, such as, PwD voter’s name, his/her EPIC ID, mobile number, election district/ constituency, exact pick-up location etc,” it said.

“During the process of registration, the applicant is also required to upload the photo of his/her EPIC card and Disability Certificate. On receipt of the request and post verification of the details, the concerned authority will facilitate his/her transportation arrangement for the poll day,” the statement said.

It may be specified that the same mobile device/handset may also be used for multiple registrations.

Altogether 1, 33,227 general electors in Majuli (ST) Legislative Assembly constituency are eligible to exercise their right to vote in the by-election to Assam Legislative Assembly 2022. Of these, 67,819 are male voters and 65,408 are female voters.
