Assam girl Krishangee Gauree will be representing India in the international pageant – Queen of the World 2022. The contest is a modern, top-tier pageant that celebrates glamour, style, confidence and beauty, along with diversity and inclusion.

Krishangee who currently works as a finance professional in New York, will be representing India in one of four divisions across all age groups of women from different walks of life. Krishangee is originally from Guwahati, Assam, and wants to promote her state on a global stage.

Prior to Queen of the World, Krishangee had participated in the style segment Miss Diva before the COVID-19 pandemic. She is also a professional Bharatnatyam dancer who has been into performing arts since the age of 4.

Krishangee has performed not only in India but at Harvard and Boston Universities. She is also the founder of a dance team at the University of Massachusetts Amherst where Krishangee pursued her undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The dance team specialises in different forms of Indian dances.

“Usually people who represent our country are from the north or from bigger cities like Mumbai. This pageant started very recently and it’s their first time sending delegates to the United States. The best part is that it brings people together ranging from the age of 21 to women in their 50s which is so important because our society views beauty in a certain age group, like it is always the younger girls in Bollywood movies doing big dance numbers,” Krishangee Gauree told EastMojo.

“This platform promotes people who have different life experiences. We have another person representing India who is an Ophthalmologist and another who is an influencer and I work in Finance. So, it’s women from different walks of life coming together to represent our country which I think is a matter of great pride,” she went on to add.

Krishangee is also promoting education for women and aims to generate more awareness about it through her social media profile. She is also being mentored by the National Director of Queen of the World pageant, Urmi Baruah, and Alice Lee Giannetta, the founder of the pageant.

The Queen of the World pageant was started by former Mrs New York 2017, Mrs Hong Kong 2017,  and Mrs World 2018, Alice Lee Giannetta with an aim to bring about a new generation of beauty pageants and a community where women truly support other women.

The pageant does not just promote external beauty but also how you think and who you are and all contestants participating are very accomplished in their own way, said Krishangee, about the pageant.

The pageant begins on March 7 in New Jersey and the finale is on March 12. People can vote for their favourite contestant and show their support on their website.
