Guwahati: Assam logged 1,811 new COVID-19 positive cases on Monday, registering an increase in fresh infections after having been on a declining trend for the last four days, as the overall caseload climbed to 7,16,406, a National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin said.
The day’s fatalities decreased by one in a day to 19, it added.
The new 1,811 cases were detected from 38,837 sample tests conducted during the day, which was an increase from 910 fresh cases found from 13,100 tests done on Sunday.
The day’s positivity rate is 4.66 per cent, down from 6.95 per cent recorded on the previous day.
Among the new cases, Kamrup Metropolitan district, which primarily comprises Guwahati city, reported 389 infections, an increase by 32 against the previous day’s cases.
Golaghat logged 106 fresh cases, while Lakhimpur and Kamrup (Rural) reported 93 and 75 cases respectively, the NHM bulletin said.
Nineteen fresh fatalities pushed the COVID death toll to 6,461, with the death rate being 0.90 per cent.

Three deaths were reported from Dibrugarh and Jorhat, and two from Cachar, Darrang and Tinsukia districts. Baksa, Barpeta, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Kamrup Metropolitan, Majuli and Udalguri reported one fatality each.
The number of COVID-19 positive patients dying due to other reasons is 1,347.
The day saw 3,613 patients recovering from the infection. The total number of cured patients in the state has increased to 6,87,971 with the recovery rate being 96.03 per cent.
The number of active cases in the state on Monday is 20,627.
The NHM bulletin said 4,13,67,429 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the state so far.
