A teacher of Kailashpur Primary School in Bamundi of Assam’s Kamrup Rural district allegedly hit a four-year-old student with a plumbing pipe and locked him inside the school bathroom for about two hours.

The incident, which occured on Wednesday, came to light after other students informed the boy’s parents about the severe corporal punishment.

The child also narrated the entire incident to his grandmother.

“My grandson told me how his teacher beat him up, locked him in the bathroom. He even puked in the bathroom and kept calling his sir to let him go,” said his grandmother.

The student’s mother said, “My son told me how his teacher hit him. I asked him what his teacher hit him with. He said he was beaten up with a plumbing pipe on his leg and back.”

“I went to this teacher and told him that he had no right to hit him. I also told him that if he had any issue with my son, he should have informed us,” the mother added.

The student’s family said they have lodged a complaint before the Kamrup District School Inspector and District Deputy Commissioner but no action has been taken against the teacher yet.
