Guwahati: A middle aged man has been found murdered in Guwahati on Friday night around 11.30.
Identified as Tarun Deka, the victim worked as a watchman in the city’s Maligaon area. The murder has also been caught on CCTV camera, though the assailant has not been identified yet.
The CCTV footage shows the assailant hitting the victim on his head. The deceased hails from Darrang district’s Mangaldai and has been working as a watchman at Bipul Complex in the area for the past many months.
The attack on Deka took place merely 500 metres from the Jalukbari police station.
On enquiring about the case, the Officer-in-Charge of Jalukbari police station, Inspector Rupak Kumar Bora said the investigation into the case is still in progress, hence, further details were awaited.
On October 26, an elderly couple was found murdered in their home in Guwahati’s Beltola Survey area.
The frequency of such heinous crimes seem to have shot up in the city lately, raising questions about safety.
