GUWAHATI: Olympic star Lovlina Borgohain will be appointed as DSP in Assam Police as the state cabinet gave its nod on Thursday.

“Lovlina will be appointed as DSP on ‘probation’, state minister Ranoj Pegu told reporters after the cabinet meeting.

On August 12, during a felicitation ceremony, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had announced that the government would appoint Lovlina as DSP in Assam Police.

Lovlina Borgohain became the third Indian boxer after Mary Kom and Vijender Singh to bag a Bronze medal at the quadrennial event.

Pegu also said Lovlina’s ‘probationer’ post will be regularized after the completion of her ‘probation’ period.

The cabinet has decided to provide at least two pairs of uniforms and other required items to all forest personnel starting from forest guards to deputy rangers.

The cabinet also gave nod for providing an incentive of Rs 2,000 to all front line health workers.

Around 10,854 Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM), 9,420 verifiers, 32,700 Asha workers and 200 Support Staffs will receive this amount for their exemplary service during the COVID-19 pandemic in the state, Pegu said.

The cabinet also approved Rs 160 crore to Assam Food and Civil Supply Corporation Limited as working capital for procurement of paddy from state’s farmers.

The government will aalso increase the number of seats in the Deuri Autonomous Council (DAC) from 20 to 26, whereby 22 members will be elected and 4 nominated by the government.

Kritagyata portal will be the front-end for processing all pension cases and for matters related to pay fixation.

Pension Seva Kendras will be set up by AMTRON in district offices of Education Department with installed facilities like scanners etc.

The government has aldo decided to borrow Rs 60 crore from NABARD for projects sanctioned under RIDF XXVII. The loan will be repaid within seven years within a moratorium of two years at 2,75 per cent interest.

The Orunodoi schemes will be exempted from the purview of concurrence October onwards.
