Bengaluru: Well-known environmentalist Dr. Pranab J Patar has been conferred the Green Future Leadership Award and Water Leadership Award for outstanding leadership towards developing innovative and enduring solutions to some of the key socio-environmental challenges faced by humanity.
He was announced the winner at the 7th edition of National CSR Leadership Congress organized by leading Mumbai-based group World CSR Day & World Sustainability in Bengaluru on October 27.
Originally from Morigaon in Assam, Dr. Patar is the Chief Executive of New Delhi-based Indo-US environmental charity Global Foundation for Advancement of Environment and Human Wellness.
He took over as the CEO in January 2019, and since then, has been steering the organization to prominence by working on water resources conservation and restoration of water bodies, mountain sustainable development, climate action, and building climate resilience through the promotion of low-carbon energy solutions, sustainable livelihood and environmental capacity enhancement.
Speaking at the event as chair of a panel discussion on ‘The impact of the Covid-19 on The Renewable Energy Sector’, Dr. Patar highlighted the urgency of shifting towards green energy as the world is trying to recover from the deadly blow of Covid-19 pandemic, while promoting sustainable development and a net-zero trend in the wake of alarming climate change implications.”
While thanking the jury, he underscored that these awards are nothing but a much needed recognition of the environment and sustainability work they are trying to promote and propagate at the national level.
Dr Patar has long-term plans to work on environmental issues of Assam as well and has initiated some entry-level work with Nalbari-based social organisation Gramya Vikas Mancha and SEWA, a Jorhat-based NGO.
