Guwahati: A document with Guwahati Neurological Research Centre (GNRC) Director Navanil Baruah’s signature surfaced on October 7. This was the document that was allegedly used to refer former model Rajkanya Baruah to be admitted to the semi-ICU ward at the hospital.
But the GNRC director denied having signed any such document.
“It was not me. I don’t remember who had signed it. I have to see the case sheet to know,” Baruah told EastMojo, on being asked if he had any idea about who had done the same.
The document (IP/211003/000012), signed at 3:06 pm on October 3, 2021, gave permission for the diagnostic examinations, biopsy, transfusion or operation and administration of any anaesthetic as deemed advisable in the course of Rajkanya Baruah’s hospital admission.
The former model and Femina Miss India finalist had managed to get bail within 24 hours of the incident and was admitted in the ICU of GNRC hospital in Guwahati using this document.
However, on October 6, she was arrested within minutes of her medical report being submitted by a six-member medical board that found no serious or acute condition that warranted her to be admitted to a hospital.
The 29-year-old model was involved in the accident that injured 9 PWD workers on October 2. She has been booked under Section 308 of IPC for attempt to commit culpable homicide with a punishment of up to 7 years of imprisonment, fine or both.
