GUWAHATI: Assam Police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Raunak Ali Hazarika was on Tuesday arrested by the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case.

A team of CM vigilance team headed by SP Rosie Kalita arrested Hazarika from his residence at Rupkonwar Path in Hengrabari area of Assam’s main city Guwahati.

“…The Governor of Assam, in exercise of powers conferred by the clauses of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, hereby places Sri Hazarika under suspension with immediate effect,” the notification stated.

It added that the headquarters of Hazarika would be the office of Director General of Police and he would not leave the headquarters without obtaining the permission of the secretary, home and political affairs department.

Hazarika had joined the Assam Police Service (APS) in 1992.
