Anand Mishra, superintendent of Dhubri police, has been transferred as Nagaon police chief, in a major police reshuffle days within Himanta Biswa Sarma took charge as chief minister of Assam.
The citizens of Dhubri have given an emotional farewell to their favorite SP Mishra as hundreds of locals joined him in front of his residence and various junctions as he left for Nagaon on Monday.
In a live streaming on “Fans of Dhubri” page on Facebook, on Monday, the love and craze for Mishra, among youths, was evident. Youths crying, requesting him to stay back, felicitating Mishra with Asomiya Gamosa, asking him for autograph and clicking selfie were some emotional moments captured in the video, rare scenes seen in real life and replicating a scene from the famous film Gangajal.
The video has received above 160,000 views, 2,400 share and 1,000 comments in less than 9 hours, indicating the popularity he gained among the masses, particularly, youths.
Out of 1000 comments, one Sandeep Gupta wrote: ANAND SIR WE WANT YOU IN NORTH LAKHIMPUR such officers needed in evry district.truuly salute for u sir…..the emotions behind shows how truely with dedication u have done ur work….salute.

Talking to EastMojo after entering Nagaon, Mishra said he was grateful to the people who made him realize that his way of working was so well accepted.
“It gives me a line of working and a strong feedback about what I was doing was good or not good. It also inspires me to continue with the same sincerity and line of working in whatever ideas I take along.”
“It has left me as a better human being and not just as a professional officer, the benefits of which will be reaped by the people of Nagaon,” added Mishra.
In a message to the people of Nagaon, his new place of posting, Mishra said, “Keep your expectations clear and I will definitely deliver them.”
“I am here as a professional service provider, and at the same time a person who is very sensitive to the fact that we cater to a population who are really in need of help and system. Let me know the ways I can be helpful, I will go beyond my ways and physical limitations to help and be available for the people 24X7,” Mishra said.
On Sunday, in a similar live streaming on the “Fans of Dhubri” page on Facebook, youths can be seen in tears requesting Mishra to stay back. With placards in hands scribed with “we want Anand Mishra”, youths can be heard chanting “we want Anand sir”. The video has already received over 333,000 views, 73,000 shares and 21,000 comments.
