Guwahati: Assam state cabinet 2021 seems to be from an elite, rich league as the average asset of the 14 ministers is Rs 4.78 crore.
Twelve of the 14 recently sworn-in ministers are crorepatis, according to a report by Assam Election Watch. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is the richest of them all with assets worth Rs 17.27 crore, while Sanjoy Kishan, the Tea Tribes, Labour & Employment minister is the poorest with assets worth Rs 55.35 lakh.
In terms of education, the CM is the most qualified with a PhD from Guwahati University. Twelve of the 14 ministers, that is 86% of the cabinet ministers hold a graduate degree or above, whereas Tea Tribes minister Sanjoy Kishan is 10th pass and Revenue & Disaster Management minister Jogen Mohan is 12th pass.

Of the 14-member cabinet, only one is a female minister, that is, Ajanta Neog, who is the social welfare minister, and also happens to be Assam’s first female finance minister.
The state cabinet this time has just one minister with any kind of declared case against him. Asom Gana Parishad’s Atul Bora has one charge related to a criminal breach of trust by a public servant, or by a banker, merchant or agent, under IPC Section-409. These charges come under serious criminal cases.
Bora holds several departments in the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led cabinet, including Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Border Area Development, Implementation of the Assam Accord and Cooperation.
