Guwahati: Jayanta Talukdar, one of India’s best archers, has been admitted to a Guwahati hospital after testing positive for COVID-19.
Talukdar, part of the bronze medal-winning team at the 2006 Doha and 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, is currently in the Intensive Care Unit due to low oxygen levels, according to reports.
Talukdar, a recurve archer, represented the country at the 2012 London Olympics and was among eight shortlisted archers who competed in the trials to select the archery team for the Tokyo Olympics in March but he could not make the cut. Talukdar, 35, won the Arjuna Award in 2006.
Talukdar is among several Indian athletes who have recently tested positive for COVID-19. The list includes Tokyo-bound boxer Simranjit Kaur and Priyanka Goswami, a race walker, among others.
