Stranded Assam Students

Eleven students from Assam are stranded in Bangladesh due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The distressed students have urged both the Indian and Bangladesh government to help them return home.

As per the information received, the students, from the South Salmara-Mankachar district of Assam, are pursuing medical science degrees from University of Science and Technology, Chittagong in Bangladesh.

They were scheduled to return home after their exams ended on April 22. But as the Indo-Bangladesh border was sealed due to the COVID-19 situation, the students were left in a lurch. The students are currently stranded on the Bangladesh side of the Akhaura border in Tripura.
