Assam gynaecologist Dr. Karuna Sagar Das Passes Away in UK
Prominent Assamese Non-Resident Indian (NRI) and gynaecologist Dr. Karuna Sagar Das breathed his last on Slough England at 5:30 am on Wednesday.
Dr. Das was involved in promoting Assam and its culture, language, and literature in the far west. The doctor was suffering from Oesophageal Cancer and got infected by the COVID-19 virus, said reports.
He even established the Srimanta Sankaradeva International Cultural Centre in London and had been publishing an annual bilingual journal, Luit to Thames, since 1999.
Even late Bhupen Hazarika was impressed by his generosity and gave him the title of 'Sagar'. From then on, Karuna Kant Das became known as Karuna 'Sagar' Das.
