Sonu Sood facilitated a brain tumour surgery of a 46-year-old Assam resident, Guddi, as her husband lost his job during lockdown
Guwahati: Sonu Sood’s never-ending philanthropic works have reached Assam too as the actor facilitated a brain-tumor surgery of a 46-year-old Assam resident, Guddi.
The Bollywood actor has been regarded as a messiah by many as he goes far and beyond to help out anyone in need during the COVID-19 crisis- from organising transportation services to ones stranded to providing financial aid or jobs to the ones severely affected.
So it must come as no surprise why Guddi’s call for help was answered by Sood. Guddi’s husband lost his job during the COVID-19 induced lockdowns and the family was going through a financial crunch. The cost of a brain tumor surgery can be estimated between Rs 2 to 2.5 lakh.
Unable to bear the expenses the couple finally approached Sood who then assured him with financial health.
On August 8, the actor tweeted, “My humble request to everyone who can afford to help a needy. Please come out of ur comfort world, adopt a patient in any hospital near you if you can or atleast someone’s medicine expenses. If you all do this I promise you half the misery will just vanish.#wakeupcall (sic).”
Karnal, Haryana-based neurosurgeon Dr. Ashwani Kumar was the first surgeon to respond to this Tweet by Sonu. He replied, “I adore philanthropic wake up call of Siri Sonu Sood to adopt a needy patient .I promised to operate one brain tumor patient per month totally free of cost (sic).”
Following this Sood arranged the travel for Guddi from Guwahati to Karnal.
On August 28, Guddi was admitted to the hospital and she underwent surgery on September 1. Her surgery was successful and she will be discharged from the hospital on Wednesday.
