How this NGO is providing relief to Assam flood victims via crowdfunding

NGO Indian Awaz Foundation was able to collect Rs 33,000 just by crowdfunding; it provided aid to 100 families in Goalpara district amid flood and COVID-19 crisis

Guwahati: Indian Awaz Foundation, a humanitarian NGO based in Guwahati, donated relief aid to a total of 100 families in 4 No Baladmari Char (Hatkhola) in Goalpara district of Assam. The organisation, through crowdfunding with the moniker 'Aid for Assam,' has been taking steps to help the flood-affected people of the state when a global pandemic has brought the country to a halt.

Just via crowdfunding, the organisation was able to gather a sum of 33,000. With an additional 25,000 from different sources, the NGO started its relief operations.

The Indian Awaz Foundation is led by youths and aims to reach out to the voices of the unheard and provide a helping hand to them. The NGO has been working on relief and awareness campaigns and social welfare activities for the past three years now and it has been successful to reach at least 1,000-2,000 people during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

The severe flood issue in Assam has become habitual every year and this year the sudden outbreak of COVID-19 has led the issue to grow more serious even than before. Since withstanding over natural calamity is not possible, the NGO thought to help the needy and flood victims by providing them support and assistance. To help the flood victims, the NGO came up with arrangements of food meals, providing essential items and COVID-19 kits. It started a campaign of fundraising for the shattered families of flood-affected areas.

With the finance in hand, relief donations have been made in Goalpara district, with 100 families receiving relief in the form of masks and dry ration at a time of financial crisis and dwindling morale. Hatkhola has been severely affected by the flood, beckoning immense suffering and loss for the poor people of Baladmari Char, especially at a time of COVID-19 pandemic.
