Tinsukia: Amid reports that the Oil India Limited (OIL) is likely to make the third attempt to install the Blowout Preventer (BoP) to cap the well anytime between Monday and Tuesday, four global experts have already reached the OIL headquarter in Assam’s Duliajan on Sunday.

As the OIL well fire continues to rage on its 70th day till Monday, four global experts, three from Canada and one from USA, have already reached Duliajan on Sunday as replacement of their counterparts.

The development came days after four global experts, including the three - Athony Stephens Reynolds, Doug Dallas, both from the US and Craig Neil Duncan from Australia, who were injured in an accidental fire at the blowout well, returned back on August 5. The fourth member to go was Edward Harris McLeod.

They were part of a six-member team from Canadian firm M/s Alert Damage Control engaged by OIL to douse the fire raging at the well since June 9 following a gas blowout on May 27.

Talking to this correspondent, OIL spokesperson Tridip Hazarika said, the experts from M/s Alert Damage Control arrived on Sunday. “They will be joining the capping operations from Monday onwards. The experts are Adam David Kepllar, Gregory Warren Ayers, Smith Nathan Lewis - all from Canada and James Springer from USA.”

Earlier, OIL took two attempts to install the Blowout Preventer (BoP) in order to cap the well but it failed. On July 31, the 90-feet Athey Wagon that lifted the BoP toppled while one of the bull wires attached to the Athey Wagon snapped during the second attempt 10 days later on August 10.

Meanwhile, sources inform here that the OIL is all set to make its third attempt anytime between Monday and Tuesday to install BoP to cap well.
