Meet the Assam boy who makes art using Chinese e-waste
Rahul Pareek, 20, took around 15 days to complete a 5-ft-long portrait representing the courage shown by Indian soldiers in fight against China

Guwahati: Dhubri's 20-year-old Rahul Pareek has gained attention as he uses discarded Chinese electronics to make art. His recent creation is a portrait that depicts victory of Indian soldiers over China.

Pareek uses insect-killing Chinese rackets, broken calculators, study lamps, dead motherboards, broken LED lights and even old radios to make unique pieces of art. The Assam resident from Dhubri collects discarded electronics from his neighbours and friends to make his art.

At a time when the country is pushing towards "Atmanirbhar Bharat" and boycotting Chinese products, Rahul has used those discarded products to turn them into pieces of art.

Pareek took around 15 days to complete the 5-foot-long portrait representing the courage shown by Indian soldiers in fight against China.

"I have done a lot of artwork with e-waste. Now for this Independence Day, I created portrait made of all the Chinese waste materials. This portrait is a tribute to the soldiers who were martyred on the border. My work gives out the message that no matter what, for us, our nation is our priority. This work is my contribution to mission ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ which was introduced by PM Narendra Modi. As per the demand of the situation, I think we have to boycott Chinese products,” said Rahul Pareek, while speaking to India Today.

Pareek studies commerce at KC Das Commerce College in Dhubri and is a certificate holder in Fine Arts. His work has been appreciated by Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal, Railway minister Piyush Goyal and cricketer Virat Kohli among many.
