Reejumoni Gohain, a superintendent of taxes posted in Dibrugarh, succumbs to COVID-19 at Assam Medical College and Hospital, say reports
Guwahati: Reejumoni Gohain, a superintendent of taxes posted in Dibrugarh, died due to the COVID-19 at the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) on Sunday night.
According to reports, she was posted as a COVID-19 warrior for more than three months in Guwahati till her transfer to Dibrugarh.
Meanwhile, state commissioner and secretary for finance, Shyam Jaganathan in his condolence message said, “During her tenure as taxation officer, she was known to be diligent, bright, and honest who performed her duties sincerely and effectively. She served till the very end as a frontline COVID-19 warrior.”
Altogether 2,900 COVID cases were detected in Assam out of the 60,425 tests conducted in last 24 hours. Total number of cases detected in Assam is 61,737.
Out of these, 42,325 persons have been recovered and 19,258 are active cases. Altogether 151 persons have died due to the disease in Assam till 10.20 pm on Monday.
