11 from NE clear UPSC Civil Services Exam 2019; Assam's Aranyak Saikia secures 59th rank

Guwahati: Altogether 11 candidates from the Northeast, including Assam lad Aranyak Saikia with 59th rank, have cleared the Civil Services Exam (CSE), 2019, conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), results of which were declared on Tuesday.

Out of the 11 candidates, who cleared the coveted examination, five from Assam, two each from Sikkim and Manipur and one from Nagaland and Tripura.

Candidates can check their results at -upsc.gov.in.

Apart from Aranyak Saikia, four others from Assam, namely Sizal Agarwal (112 position) Nibedita Dutta (697 rank), Tapan Deka (766 rank) and Kishore Sutradhar (784 rank), have also cleared the examination this time.

Tapan Deka completed B.Tech in Computer Engineering from NIT Surat and Post-Graduation in Management from IIM Ahmedabad. More information in this regard are still awaited.

Aranyak, a 2017 batch IPS officer, is already serving in Karnataka. He is the son of former Assam DGP (Director General of Police) Kula Saikia. This is for the third time that Aranyak has cleared the examination.

In Manipur, Nongjai Mohd Ali Akram Shah of Khergao Nongjai Leikai Kshetrigao from Imphal East district secured the 188 ranks. And Parikshit Thoudam of Uripok Cheirap Maning from Imphal West district stood at 373 rankings.

In Sikkim, Yangchen Doma Bhutia has secured 677 rank while Zenden Lingzerpa secured 794 rank this time.

Nagaland had to wait for 13 long years years to get a Naga candidate to could clear the UPSC, 2019. Richard Yanthan, a native of Lakhuti village under Wokha district, has cleared the Civil Services Exam (CSE), 2019.

In Tripura, Dhiman Chakma, resident of Kanchanpur sub-division under North Tripura district, has secured 722 rank in UPSC civil services exam 2019.

The results can be obtained on the official website of the UPSC, which released the merit list of qualifying candidates. Pradeep Singh tops the chart followed by Jatin Kishore and Pratibha Verma.

The UPSC declared the final list of the selected candidates by basing the results of the written part of the CSE which was held in September 2019 and the Personality Test or interviews which was held on February-August 2020.

Through the 2019 edition of the exam, a total of 829 candidates have been selected for various Civil Services. This includes appointments to Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service, Indian Foreign Service, Central Services, Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’.

Altogether 304 out of the 829 qualified are from the general category, 78 from EWS, 251 from OBC, 129 from SC, and 67 are from ST category. Additionally, the results of 11 candidates have been withheld. UPSC has also maintained a consolidated Reserve List of 182 candidates.

Meanwhile, the CSE 2020 which was scheduled to be held on May 31 has been rescheduled to October 4 given the novel coronavirus pandemic.
