In Kamrup Metro district, 5 persons are allowed to offer namaz in Masjids and Idgahs, said an order from DC office
Guwahati: Keeping in mind the festive season amid COVID-19 pandemic, government has allowed a gathering of five people for performing namaz on the occasion of Eid-Uz-Zuha in Kamrup (Metropolitan) on Saturday.
This comes after a meeting was held with representatives of various masjids and idgah committees on July 29.
An order from the office of DC, Kamrup metro said, "...permission is hereby accorded for gathering of 5 (five) persons to perform namaz at all the masjids and idgahs in Kamrup Metropolitan district on 1st August'2020."
However, all the people gathered at the masjid and idgahs have to follow social distancing protocols at the time of performing the namaz and have to wear face mask mandatorily.
"Moreover, the places of offering namaz must be sanitised before and after the namaz," added the order.
Further, the order said that all protocols issued by Centre and government of Assam, must be adhered to during the celebration of Id-Uz-Zuha.
Apart from the five people, "The remaining worshipers will perform namaz at their respective residences by maintaining standing COVID-19 protocols."
