Assam Higher Secondary Education Council declares results of Class XII exams; Avinash Kalita from Science stream tops exams with 97.2%
Guwahati: Girls have outperformed boys in Class XII final examination again in state as the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) declared their results for the year 2020 on Thursday.
The pass percentage of girls this year in all the three streams (science, arts and commerce) is higher than that of boys. In the arts stream, the pass percentage of girls was 93.85% while for boys it was 89.55%. For Commerce, girls had a pass percentage of 94.33% while boys in 91.09%. As for the Science stream, girls had a pass percentage of 94.33% with boys at 91.09%.
A total of 16,928 students secured first division in Science; 19,850 secured first division in Arts, and 3,870 in Commerce. Avinash Kalita from Anundoram Barooah Academy (science stream) in Barpeta tops among the students of all the three streams with 486 marks and a percentage of 97.2.
In the science stream, he is followed by Nayeema Firdous Borbhuyan from Concept Junior College, Nagaon with 482 marks in total, tailed by Preetpal Bezbaruah from Sai Vikash Junior College, Kamrup (M) with 481 marks.
The first position of the humanities stream is shared by two students, Pubali Deka from Patharighat H S School in Darrang and Shraddha Borgohain from Ramanujan Junior College in Nagaon. Each of them scored a total mark of 481 with 96.2%.
They are tailed by Kashmiri Das from Barpeta Vidyapith HS School, Anwesha Kashyap from Golaghat Jatiya Mahavidyalaya, and Saima from Abdul Hasib HS School, Hojai at second position with a total mark of 477.
The third position in arts is shared by seven students in total. Jusmita Goswami from Krishna Kanta Handiqui Junior College, Barpeta; Farhanur Rahman from Bongaigaon HS School; Mayurika Deka from Ranjit Sarma Academy Jr College, Darrang; Sangita Das from Pragmatic Academy Jr College Kamrup (R); Poli Borah from Concept Junior College Nagaon; Priyakhi Bora from Ramanujan Junior College Nagaon and Moumita Konwar from RD Junior College in Tinsukia. Each of the seven scored a total mark of 473.
Krishna Maheshwari from Salt Brook Academy Dibrugarh is the topper from Commerce with a total mark of 471 and 94.2 %. Followed by Harpreet Kaur from Sonari Junior College Charaideo with 468 out of 500 tailed by Binita Saha from Ramanuj Gupta Jr College, Cachar at 466.
Chirang is believed to be the best performing district in Commerce this year with all 37 students from the region have passed giving it a 100% pass percentage. Darrang is the best performing district in Arts stream with a pass percentage of 89.07 and Sivasagar tops the Science stream with a pass percentage of 95.97.
