How Assam govt's MoU with TiE Guwahati will help startups

TiE Guwahati enables and guides startups with its Indian and global network of venture capital funds, angel investors and successful entrepreneurs

Guwahati: Giving a helping hand to startups in the state, Assam government recently signed an MoU with TiE, appointing it as the “Preferred Innovation Partner for Startups” throughout Assam.

The signing ceremony took place at Assam Startup - the Nest and it was presided over by chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, commerce and industry minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, Pranjal Konwar, COO of the Assam Start-up Hub and Rajeev Gupta, co-founder and president of TiE Guwahati, among other dignitaries.

To ensure suitable and timely guidance to the startups at the Nest, TiE Guwahati will be allocated a dedicated office space within the hub by the state government. However, TiE Guwahati will also continue to be operational at their own office.

Vijay Sambamurthi, co-founder and secretary, TiE Guwahati, called the day “an important occasion in the start-up history of Assam as it marks the partnership and coming together of two great organizations -- the government of Assam and TiE, Guwahati..."

CM Sonowal said: “I applaud this initiative by industry department and IIMC Incubation Park. I am sure the cooperation between NEST and TIE will go a long way in mentoring and hand holding of our aspiring entrepreneurs.”

Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said, “It is a dream come true.”

TiE Guwahati, enables and guides startups with its Indian and global network of venture capital funds, angel investors and successful entrepreneurs. It will be providing access to suitable mentoring and fundraising opportunities for the benefit of the chosen startups.

Apart from this, TiE Guwahati will also be giving complimentary associate membership of TiE Guwahati to the founders of the chosen start-ups for a period of 1 year from the date on which such the start-up is admitted into the Assam Start-up Hub. This complimentary membership will (a) allow the founders to attend all events which are open to Associate Members of TiE Guwahati, and (b) give these start-ups access to competitions that are open only to members of TiE Guwahati.
