Health Department issues new notification announcing additional categories of air passengers exempted from institutional quarantine
Guwahati: The health and family welfare depart of the government of Assam issued revised standard operating procedures (SOPs) for people who are flying back to the state on commercial airlines. The state added more categories of people who will not require institutional quarantine.
Institutional quarantine will not be required for husband and a wife who are travelling together, for a husband, wife, and their children travelling together or husband, wife, and their parents travelling together.
Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to twitter to state, “Health Department has issued a new notification announcing additional categories of air passengers exempted from institutional quarantine. You may like to see.”
However, these revised SOP would only be applicable if and when the people cum travellers are asymptomatic and that every person in the above-stated group follows mandatory home quarantine. They must show their compliance to the standing health protocols which include swab sample collection for COVID-19 test, hand stamping, conversion of the residence into a containment zone, etc.
Moreover, these SOP’s are only applicable if the mode of travel is via air. Additionally, exemptions from institutional quarantine will not be applicable if the flight (in which the above-stated persons have travelled) has been found to have a high incidence of COVID-19 positive case or has been contained in some way.
The state as of now has a total of 4,510 COVID-19 cases with 2,411 recovered and 2,088 active cases so far including eight deaths.
