3 new areas declared containment zones in Guwahati

Guwahati: After the detection of a COVID-19 positive case at Christian Basti, Satgaon, and Hirapara village area in Guwahati under Kamrup (Metropolitan) district of Assam, was declared as a containment zone on Sunday, till further notice.

An order from the deputy commissioner's office said that in the interest of maintenance of public hygiene and to prevent further spread of the virus, the area is directed to be sealed immediately.

The border of the new containment zone of Christian Basti, is the residence of Saurav Baruah in the north, Charing Villa in the south, Radiant Tower in the east, and Amarawati Path the west.

Similarly, the border Satgaon area is the residence of Amir Ali in the north, the proposed road in the south, the residence of one Khalilur Rahman in the east, and residence of one Afsor Ali in the west.

For Hirapara village under Azara revenue circle in Kamrup (M) is the paddy field of Hirapara Village in the north, the Bangshigopal Namghar in the south, another paddy field of the village in the east and residence of one Prafulla Das and others in the west.

All unauthorised entry and exit of vehicles and persons into the notified containment zone is prohibited.

Additionally, after observations were made regarding the contacts of the COVID-19 positive patients of Sarabhati area (which were found on June 8), the Kamrup (M) district authority has proposed the closure of all shops and business establishments from Serabhati Chariali (Police Point) to the Arya Vidyapeeth College field on both sides of the road for the next seven days starting from June 9.

Any violation of the order will attract actions under the provisions of Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020; the Disaster Management Act-2005; the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, and other relevant laws.

The administration also withdrew the containment zone tag in Arihant Apartment, Panbazzar effectively from June 8 as no further contamination of COVID-19 was detected. However, the residents of the area are advised to follow all the protocols for preventing further COVID-19 infection.
