3.58 lakh students appeared for HSLC examinations in Assam; Dhritiraj Bastav Kalita of Padum Pukhuri High School in Darrang is this year's topper
Guwahati: Dhritiraj Bastav Kalita of Padum Pukhuri High School in Darrang topped the state in High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examinations (Class X Board exams) this year, results of which were declared by the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) on Saturday.
The top 10 state rankings were captured by 42 students in total. Dhritiraj secured 595 marks out of total 600 marks. Alankrita Gautam Baruah of Salt Brook School, Dibrugarh came second with 594 marks. Debisma Priya Borah of Gyanjyoti Academy or Narayanpur in Lakhimpur district, Jyotisman Deva Sarma Sankardev Sishu Bidya Niketan, Barbhag, Nalbari and Chaki G. Bulton of St. Mary’s School, Guwahati came third with 591 marks.
A total of 3.58 lakh students appeared for HSLC examinations this year.
The SEBA announced the HSLC exam results along with Assam High Madrassa (AHM) exams on Saturday.
This year, there has been a rise of over four per cent in overall pass percentage of the HSLC examination. The overall pass per cent of HSLC exam this year is 64.80 with boys 66.93% and girls 62.91% against total pass percentage of 60.23% in 2019.
This year, Nalbari district registers the highest pass percentage of 78.73% against Dhubri being the lowest with 44.20%.
In his Twitter message while congratulating state HSLC topper Dhritiraj Bastav Kalita, Assam education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Heartiest congratulations to Dhritiraj Bastav Kalita as he tops HSLC 2020 examinations by scoring 595 out of 600 marks. Keep it up. You have a long way to go. Keep shining, Best wishes”
In the AHM Examination, the pass percentage is 63.67 with boys (65.25%) bettering girls (62.62%). Jorhat district topped the list with 100% pass percentage while Udalguri came last with 0%.
Eyamin Ali of Dhakua High Madrassa in Barpeta district secured first position by 558 out of 600, Apshana Yesmin of SAB High Madrassa in Kamrup district secured second with 552 and Rasidul Ali Sk of Nabajyoti High Madrassa, Howriapet in Kokrajhar came third with 551 marks.
