Shramik Special Train bringing stranded people of northeast from Pune, Maharashtra was attacked again at Danapur railway station in Bihar on May 25
Guwahati: In yet another attack on trains carrying passengers of the Northeast, a Shramik Special Trains carrying stranded people from places like Pune, Maharashtra to Dibrugarh, Assam were attacked at Danapur railway station in Bihar on Monday.
The mob attacked the train when it stopped for some minutes for passengers to re-fill drinking water and food at the station.
This incident occurred just two days after two consecutive attacks that took place on the Shramik trains bringing back Northeast passengers from Gurugram Haryana and that too in the same station.
It is alleged that miscreants broke the window panes of the bogey and even made death threats to the passengers on-board. “Goli mar dega (Will shoot you), Kaat dega (will cut you), Jala Dega (Will incinerate you)” were clearly heard in the video footage available with the EastMojo as the miscreants tried to enter the bogey.
Upon trying to call the police force from inside the train, one of the passengers can be heard saying, “Police are in it, they have ordered the people to throw the rocks.” These claims were made by passengers who were in panic.
The passengers were heard trying to explain that these trains will not stop at any other station and head directly to Assam. However, these fell deaf in the ears of the miscreants, the majority of them, migrants, who were also desperately wanting to go home. Yet another video from the same train, scores of migrants who entered inside the bogey can be seen People from Northeast are trying to block their way by forming human wall as they try to explain the situation to them.
This despite efforts by all top leaders from northeast. Talking to EastMojo, Arunachal MP and Union minister of state for sports and youth welfare, Kiren Rijiju on May 25 said that the Director-General of Police (DGP) Bihar has assured him of taking personal initiative for safety and security of railway passengers travelling to the Northeast.
“I've already taken up the issue of the safety and security of the Northeast people traveling by train with Railway minister and Bihar government. Extra RPF has been sent towards the routes of the trains going to Northeast. DGP of Bihar has assured me that he will personally monitor the situation and take all necessary actions,” Rijiju told exclusively EastMojo on Monday.
However, on the same day, yet another incident occurred in the same station. Taking note of the incident, team EastMojo even reached out to the NF Railway PRO Nripen Bhattacharyya, who said, “Seeing that the incident occurred in the same station Assam government, Nagaland government and even NF Railway authorities reached out to Bihar government and we were notified that all those who entered the train were asked to vacate it immediately.” He added the train had already crossed Guwahati at around 11:30 am on May 26 and in en-route to Dibrugarh while filing of this report.
