Assam all set to receive stranded railway passengers from Delhi
Guwahati: Massive arrangements have been made in different railway stations across the state as over 1,000 stranded people coming from New Delhi though a special train will be reaching Assam in a few hours from now.
According to reports, the Delhi-Dibrugarh (02424) special train will make its entry into the state when the train reaches Kokrajhar railway station around 5 pm on Wednesday. At least 10 passengers will get down at Kokrajhar railway station. The train is likely to reach Dibrugarh railway station at 7 am on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the train is likely to reach Guwahati railway station around 8 pm on Wednesday, and all arrangements have already been completed here to receive the passengers maintaining all standing norms prescribed by the Centre.
A high-level team, including Guwahati additional director general of police (ADGP) of law and order GP Singh and Kamrup (Metro) DC Biswajit Pegu visited the Guwahati railway station premises and took stock of the situation on Wednesday morning.
Talking to media persons, Singh said that all DCs and SPs concerned will take adequate measures to take the passengers to their respective destinations by maintaining all hygiene-related norms. After this, the passengers will be taken to specified quarantine centres.
“After de-boarding the train, no one will be using private vehicles, whoever he or she may be. Everyone will be boarding the ASTC buses as specified by the DC/SP concerned. However, if we get any symptomatic passengers, we will take special care of them. After getting down at the station, these people will be taken to the health screening centres,” said Singh.
Special entry and exit points have been arranged for the passengers. Railway station staffs, GRPF, RPF and district administration officials, health department officials are ready to receive the train which is carrying passengers from different states of North-eastern region.
