Any violation of lockdown relaxation terms shall be dealt with strict action including cancellation of licences, says Assam chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna
Guwahati: Assam chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna took to Twitter to address concerns regarding the disobedience of physical distancing norms after lockdown 3.0 relaxations were announced.
“Any violation of the lockdown relaxation terms, shall be dealt with strict actions against the individuals, establishments, businesses, car & scooter drivers and passengers including cancellation of licenses. FOLLOW SOCIAL DISTANCING AND STAY SAFE.”
On May 3, Assam minister of health & family welfare Himanta Biswa Sarma declared the new rules, relaxations, and measures for lockdown 3.0. One of the key major changes was the opening of offices, shops, and other establishments in accordance with the 6 am- 6 pm rule. During a press meet, Sarma even added, “All the new measures and relaxations will only work if everyone follows strict physical distancing norms and it is imperative that we do.”
However, there have been many instances in the city of Guwahati itself where, let alone physical distancing, people have been seen walking and standing in groups without their masks on. Many shopkeepers in the area of Athgaon, AT Road, and Fancy Bazar have even opened their shops without following any of the norms laid down amid lockdown 3.0 whatsoever.
In the light of all this, the chief secretary said that strict action, including cancellation of licences, against individuals, establishments, businesses, car and scooter drivers, and passengers will be taken for violations.
