Guwahati: In a heart-wrenching incident that also exemplifies one's unconditional love for one's near and dear ones, two children in Lower Assam’s Baksa district were forced to carry their ailing father to a nearby hospital in a hand-pulled cart as they couldn't afford to avail of ambulance services.
As per sources, the shocking incident took place in remote Bahjani village of Baksa district. It came to light only after onlookers from the locality posted the video on social media.
Belonging to a financially-deprived family, the 10-year-old daughter and the 11-year-old son of Mohan Lohar, a resident of Bahjani village, were forced to carry him in a hand-pulled cart to a nearby hospital in Baganpara locality as they could not manage the money for an ambulance.
Speaking with EastMojo, Radhika Lohar, a Class IV student, expressed that they decided to take their father to a nearby hospital as he was severely suffering from a broken leg following an accident last month. She further informed that as their father was the only wage earner of the family, they have been undergoing a tough time without money and food in the past days.
Lohar is a daily-wage worker and his monthly earnings are not enough to meet the basic needs of his family. His wife too has been suffering from illness for a long time without any proper treatment owing to their poor economic status.
Notably, the heart-melting video of the kids hand-pulling their father in a cart to the hospital recently went viral on social media. The scenes have left social media masses in a state of shock as they questioned the authorities concerned about the status of providing effective health services to the masses.
