Stressing on need for preserving children’s literature, CM Sarbananda Sonowal lauded the approach of KK Handique Open University for its unique approach
Guwahati: Children’s literature is the backbone of the literary structure of a society. Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal said this while launching the much-awaited Assam Shisu Sahitya Kosh, a compilation of 40 volumes of rare children’s literature, at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati on Saturday.
Attended by a large gathering of leading litterateurs, students and teachers, Sonowal while addressing the gathering also said that children should be taught about the discipline and characterisation by which one can introduce peace to society.
Stressing on the need of preserving child literature, the chief minister lauded the effort of KK Handique State Open University for its humble initiative to preserve and re-publish these rare children’s literature from the middle age to the year 2000.
"If we can develop the personality of each and every child of the society, then they definitely will grow with a brighter aspect to attain the destination they desire or aim for," the minister said, adding : We should also teach the children to make right use of the internet through the children literature so that it can show children the right path.
The book, which was launched on Saturday, consists of 40 volumes with 1,000 pages each and it includes stories from Burhi Aai'r Xaadhu, Xophura and many others. It also includes various poems, stories, novels, drama and other such works.
