In contrast to common belief of easy political atmosphere in BTC, there has been some drastic changes during last couple of weeks, says senior Cong leader Durga Das Boro
Guwahati: Assam Congress general secretary and senior spokesperson Durga Das Boro on Saturday said that Congress will announce its plans for the upcoming BTC elections on February 26.
Addressing the media at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati, Boro said whether Congress will go in an alliance, or go alone will be announced on February 26.
Breaking the general myth around Bodoland elections, the senior leader said, "In contrast to our common belief of easy political atmosphere in BTC, there has been some drastic changes during last couple of weeks."
Earlier in January, the historic Bodo Peace Accord was signed between the Centre, state and the stakeholders of Bodoland. Further, after signing the agreement nearly 1,615 rebel cadres belonging to all the three factions of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) officially laid down their arms and ammunition in front of the state government in Guwahati.
Boro said, "If all four groups of NDFB which have shunned the path of violence take a new move in the political scenario then the core ideas of the recently signed Bodo Peace Accord might be deviated."
It is to be mentioned that BJP state president Ranjeet Kumar Dass on Saturday announced that BJP is open for alliance with both BPF and UPPL. BPF is already its alliance partner.
Meanwhile, former ABSU leader Promod leader, who recently stepped down from the students' body, joined UPPL on Saturday.
The Bodoland Territorial Council elections are due in April next year.
