Guwahati: Tech startups from Assam are now looking at a national and global market as Microsoft has proposed to collaborate with the Assam government.

Speaking with EastMojo, Pratul Buragohain, associate vice president of ParkingRhino, welcomed the initiative. He said, “It is a very good proposition and can really benefit tech startups in terms of smart cities.” He added, if Microsoft assists with cloud services, which costs a hefty sum to startups, then it will come as a great relief.

Tech giant Microsoft has offered to collaborate with the state government which will bolster the startup ecosystem in the state.

A team of Microsoft met officials of the industries and commerce department in Guwahati on Monday and submitted a proposal that it would facilitate its know-how on advanced technological system, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence to the startup incubates for national and international exposure. They will also conduct a reach-out program to encourage entrepreneurs.

Buragohain of ParkingRhino, a startup which provides real-time smart parking solutions with business analytics and real-time dashboard, explained that with the tech giant stepping in, micro services such as there's can be packaged and offered to smart cities.

He added that it will help them scale their product across the globe and also with cloud services.

They also visited the state-owned marquee incubation centre - the Nest - at Ambari, Guwahati and were very impressed with the infrastructure set up. Also, a Startup Summit will be organised in Guwahati in April.

Manjula Saikia Bhuyan, IAS, secretary, Industries & Commerce Department said that the state government will provide all logistics and support to reach out to our people. We will facilitate them with whatever help they want in the reach out programme.

For one year, Microsoft will nurture the selected startups free of cost, added Bhuyan.
