Guwahati: Ahead of the announcement of the union budget for the fiscal year 2010-21 on February 1, Assam finance minister Himata Biswa Sarma is eyeing central sector scheme and devolution of funds.

Interacting with media in Guwahati on Friday, the finance minister said that this year, due to the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories: Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, the Finance Commission could not come out with its final pentennial report. Therefore the funds will be allotted on a provisional basis.

He said, "As the finance minister, tomorrow my eyes will be on the budget to see whether the devolution for the state is appropriate."

The Budget will be unveiled by union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Saturday with an expectation of announcement of measures which would step up consumption and help get the economy back on track.
