Guwahati: After signing the historic Bodo Peace Accord on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah have reportedly decided to visit Kokrajhar district in Assam on February 7.

The historic memorandum of settlement signed between Centre and the state government with leaders of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) and other Bodo groups in New Delhi on Monday aims at bringing permanent peace in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

PM Modi's proposed visit comes after much anticipation and many cancellations following anti-Citizenship Amendment Act protests in the state in December last year. The India-Japan summit to be held in Guwahati in December last year was postponed owing to the violent protests, and the PM had also declined the inaugural and closing ceremony invites for the third edition of Khelo India Youth Games 2020 held earlier this month in Guwahati.
