Expansion likely on Saturday. While Jogen Mohan may get berth as representative from Ahom community, Kishan is likely to represent tea community in CM Sarbananda Sonowal ministry
Guwahati: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal is likely to expand his Cabinet with the inclusion of two ministers on Saturday.
Sources informed EastMojo that two legislators, Jogen Mohan and Sanjoy Kishan, are likely to get the much-awaited ministerial berth. Jogen Mohan is likely to get the berth as a representative from the Ahom community while Kishan is likely to represent the tea community in Sonowal ministry.
Sources close to both the MLAs have informed EastMojo that it’s almost confirmed that both the MLAs, Jogen Mohan from Mahmara constituency and Sanjoy Kishan from Tinsukia constituency, have got invitation from Raj Bhavan in Guwahati to be present during the swearing-in-ceremony to be held on Saturday morning.
While there is already one berth vacant in the Sonowal cabinet, two slots fall vacant after power minister Topon Kumar Gogoi and labour minister Pallab Lochan Das tendered their resignations and later became MP.
Both Gogoi and Das were elected to the Lok Sabha from Jorhat and Tezpur constituencies, respectively, and accordingly, tendered their resignations from the state assembly as well as from the council of ministers.
