Section of crowd starts shouting slogans like ‘Sarbananda Sonowal go back’, ‘Himanta Biswa go back’ when giant screen shows dignitaries during abandoned match in Guwahati on Sunday
Guwahati: Even after banning posters, banners and message boards inside the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, cricket lovers of Assam launched anti-government slogans even during the abandoned T20I cricket match between India and Sri Lanka on Sunday when the giant screen showed Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
As soon as the screen displayed the CM sitting along with other dignitaries, a section of the crowd chanted slogans like “Sarbananda Sonowal go back”, “Himanta Biswa go back”, and “BJP sarkar go back”.

The first international T20 match of the year between India and Sri Lanka was called off without a ball being bowled in Guwahati, due to intermittent spells of rain. Unfortunately, it started to drizzle from 6.40 pm onwards and rainwater reportedly seeped through leaking covers that were used to cover the pitch at Barsapara Stadium.
Assam continues to rise in protest against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), that was passed through both Houses of Parliament in December last year.
