Protestors demanding to scrap the amended Citizenship Act clashed with security forces in Northeast Delhi's Seelampur area.
To control the situation and stop the frenzied crowd from moving ahead, police resorted to lathi-charge and fired tear gas shells.
The agitation affected traffic routes and several metro stations were closed down.
The entry and exit gates of the following stations of DMRC have been closed, trains will not be halting at these stations:
1. Welcome, Jaffrabad and Maujpur-Babarpur
2. Seelampur and Gokulpuri
3. Johri Enclave and Shiv Vihar
Civil rights activists Harsh Mander, Aruna Roy, Prabhat Patnaik, Irfaan Habib and Nikhil Dey move Supreme Court of Indian challenging the constitutional validity of the amended Citizenship Act
