In the meantime, police rushed to the protest venue and detected five persons including the general secretary of the students’ union, Arabinda Nath.

Police doused the burning effigies and dispersed the protesters. They were able to detect the persons who burnt the effigies.

"At least five persons were in Kokrajhar for their involvement in the incident and they have taken under police custody. The protesters have violated Section 144 of the CrPC which has been clamped in the district,” said a senior police officer.

Students’ union leader Nath has demanded immediate withdrawal of the CAB for the integrity of state. He criticised the BJP-led NDA for passing the controversial Bill which is creating chaos and disorder in the state.

CAB was passed in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday evening with 125 votes in favour of the Bill.
