Addressing media in Delhi, deputy commissioner of police, Delhi police special cell Pramod Kushwaha said, the three arrested youths, inspired by ISIS, were planning to carry out terror attack at Raas Mahotsav, which is associated with the Raas Leela of Lord Krishna, in Assam. "They were planning to replicate the planned terror attack in Delhi after the trial in Assam."
"A team of Delhi police was sent to Assam. Based on information provided by us, a joint team of Assam and Delhi police arrested trio and recovered three IED from their possession," he added.
Kushwaha, while addressing a press conference, said while Jameel worked at an Aadhar enrolment centre, Islam was employed as a driver and Ranjit Ali worked at a trading centre.
Without specifying the particular place, Kushwaha said the Delhi areas that experience heavy footfall were on their target. He added, "A detailed interrogation will reveal further links."
The three militants have been identified as Ranjit Ali, Islam and Jamal Luith. All are residents of Goalpara district of Assam. They were nabbed with improvised explosive device (IED), baton swords and timer devices.
