Dimbeshwar Das, who works at Kaziranga National Park in Assam, is among 7 individuals & institutes to be recognised at 9th edition of RBS Earth Heroes Award 2019 in New Delhi
Guwahati: Dimbeshwar Das, a forest guard working at Kaziranga National Park's (KNP) in Assam, was bestowed with the ‘Green Warrior’ Award by Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) at the 9th edition of RBS Earth Hero Award 2019 in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Das has devoted almost two decades working as an expert boatman at the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
A total of seven individuals and institutes across five categories were recognised for their grit and determination for going beyond their call of duty with an aim to preserve and protect the environment.
Along with Das, Bholu Abrar Khan from Rajasthan was awarded in the 'Green Warrior' category. The awardees of the 'Save the Species' category are Aishwarya Maheshwari from Uttar Pradesh and S Sathish from Tamil Nadu.
Pune's Ela Foundation won in the 'Earth Guardian' category while Jalal Ud Din Babab from Kashmir won in the 'Inspire' category. Also, Odisha's Pramila Bisoyi was felicitated with a 'Lifetime Achievement' award.
The awardees were felicitated in the presence of Union minister of state for home affairs Kishan Reddy; Union minister of state for environment, forests and climate change Babul Supriyo; Prof Ramesh Chand, member of NITI Aayog; Siddhanta Das, director general of forests and special secretary to the government, senior officials, and jury members, among others.
