Tinsukia: A tragic road accident has claimed three lives while critically injuring another after their motorcycles collided head on near Thermal Gate on Makum Road in Assam's Tinsukia town late on Monday night.
The deceased have been identified as Rishab Baruah, Pulin Dey and Bhairav Gogoi, while the injured is Krishna Mahato, informed sources.
According to sources, a Royal Enfield motorcycle bearing registration number (AS 23 W 5499) and a KTM motorcycle bearing registration number (AS 23 S 7634) were travelling in opposite directions when they collided head on. However, "the reason of the collision is not yet clear", said the sources.
Two of them died on the spot, while third died on the way to the hospital, sources said, adding: "The injured, identified as Krishna Mahato, has been admitted at Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh where his condition continues to be critical."
The incident comes almost a month after a speeding Innova ran over a Mahalaya crowd outside Durgabari mandir on Rangagora road in Tinsukia killing three persons and injuring 10 others.
