Assam: Man held with fake currency notes worth Rs 2 lakh

The accused has been identified as Saddam Hussain (23), a member of Borigaon Gaon Panchayat in Abhayapuri of Bongaigaon district

Kokrajhar: Kokrajhar police apprehended one person from Kachugaon in Kokrajhar district on Monday for his alleged involvement in a fake Indian currency note racket in the area.

According to police sources, based on an input of DSP (HQ), a police team led by the CI of Kachugaon carried out an operation where the individual was apprehended. The arrested man has been identified as Saddam Hussain (23), a member of Borigaon Gaon Panchayat, Abhayapuri of Bongaigaon district.

A scooty bearing registration no. AS-19 H /7880 with fake currency notes worth Rs 2,17,900, one stamp of Borigaon GP, Voter ID card, Aadhaar card, PAN card and one VIVO V9 mobile phone were recovered from his possession.

Further search in different areas of Bongaigaon district were later carried out.

A printer machine and a bundle of Rs 100 notes were then recovered from the house of another man, identified as Abdul Awal, from Simlabari Part-I under Meresar police station of Bongaigaon district. He is currently absconding.

Further investigation is on.

The police department has been taking stern initiatives against the using of fake currency notes in the district, said a senior police officer.

“The police have been conducting stringent checks on fake currency notes,” said Kokrajhar SP Rajen Singh.
